Implementation
Install EV chargers throughout the community working with third-party EV installers and operators. Prepare educational materials, which may include pamphlets and video tutorials, and conduct educational workshops, to inform residents and businesses about EVs and the expanded EV infrastructure. Education materials and workshops will include culturally compatible outreach to underserved and disadvantaged communities, which will create a positive EV adoption impact for disadvantaged communities. In addition, new development projects that have incorporated all feasible on-site GHG mitigation may be permitted to contribute financially to this program subject to quantification of the costs per MT CO2e. This quantification shall be submitted by applicants for review and verification by the County or a qualified third party selected by the County.

Target Indicator: 1,000 chargers (95 percent Level 2 and 5 percent DC Fast Charge) installed by 2025 and 2,500 installed by 2030.
Status of Implementation
The
County maintains
numerous public-facing EV chargers available free of charge including at
the Downtown and Bradshaw campuses. More chargers are scheduled for
installation over the next several years. The County is also participating in a
SMUD e-fuel pilot program to analyze the infrastructure capacity and needs at
the Bradshaw campus related to electrification of the County’s fleet.
